- I'm 19 years old, have been dinghy sailing for 8 years, yacht sailing for 6. I do 90 percent of my sailing, crewing on a 45 foot cruiser/racer in Ireland, where I spend my summers. We race every weekend of the summer and one whole week in August. I have sailed 1 Dun Laoghaire Regatta, 5 GAS Calves week regattas, 300 miles of the Irish coast, and Lorient, France, to Schull, Ireland (July2016).
I am primarily a bowman when I race. I am very comfortable with a drop pole spinnaker set up (hauling, gybing, dropping) and trimming a spinnaker. I have had no experience with end to end poles. I have a small amount of experience with an asymmetric spinnaker. I call boats at the start line, but can improve in that field.
I know my way around yachts, am comfortable with general seamanship, docking, knots, halyards, winches etc. I haven't had that much experience with mainsail trimming or helming. I'm looking keep getting experience out on the water, learn more about sailing, and have some fun racing!
